Snow and More

What the heck? I could do without the snow this weekend. I'm going to lose 4 good days of working by the time this whole thing hashes out. Love that Michigan weather.

Saw Sin City on Friday. One of the best comic translations I've ever seen. This movie has totally changed my opinion of Mickey Rourke as an actor. He was great as Marv, and I was terribly impressed. The violence was not out of place, I believe, and added to the story rather than took away from it. Great movie. Maybe I should read more of the comics?

I am absolutely in love with a movie and the books that the movie was based on. 84 Charing Cross Road based on the book by Helene Hanff is the culprit. Why, I am not sure. Perhaps it's the idea of the mail correspondance over 20 years, maybe it's the fact that the story is based in the 50's/60's. Maybe it's just Hanff (played by Anne Bancroft) and her writing, or Anthony Hopkins' portrayal of Frank Doel in the movie. It strikes a chord with me. It's a romantic story, and sad in the fact Hanff never got to meet Frank in person. It's another time, before computers, email, instant information, when the world was a much bigger place and talking to someone in England meant corresponding over weeks, months, and years. If you have a chance, check it out. The various cable channels seem to love to play it on Sunday mornings. And for once, the movie is better than the book.

What else? South Park is done for now with new episodes. These last two seasons have been disapointing, especially season 9. That last episode, Erection Day, stunk. But there have been gems, especially Something Walmart This Way Comes. The tasteless SP board members that love every episode because it's a new episode disagree with me though.

Not too hip on the new Pope. All the good feelings and interest I had in the Church again because of JP2's death has deflated. I still need a religion, though.

Go Pistons on Tuesday, as they kick Philly's ass again. Go Nets, put a hurting on Shaq. Root for the Pacers to beat up on Boston as they lose the first round. Bulls and Wizards don't matter.

That's it for now. Thanks for reading. This week begins my foray into being an employer finally, and hopefully I can get caught up soon with all this work. Get off my ass and get stuff done, I suppose.
